Schoberstein was the first hike I have ever done in the Salzkammergut area. I was quite excited to see what the lake fuss is all about. After suggesting the route to my friend, we decided it would be a good opportunity to see the lakes from above while getting some workout done.
We drove to Weißenbach am Attersee, which is around one hour away from Salzburg, and left the car at the parking place on the south-east side of the lake. Then, we walked back couple hundred meters and began the ascend via route 820.
Surprisingly enough, there were not that many people following the path to the top. The hike was a bit tiring, but nothing out of the ordinary stamina-wise. After around 3-3:30 hours (with breaks for snacks) we reached the peak. The view of Attersee and Mondsee was really nice, but the weather could have been better!
